Support
TankForge gets regular updates. If something does not work, tell us the app version, phone model and the screen or operation where it happened.
Login and account recovery
Version 0.22.0 (build 58), the Google Play release, requires Google sign-in or a verified email account. Open ACCOUNT at any time to sign in, check sync status or sign out. Cancelling sign-in does not bypass the account requirement.
For email registration, confirm your address using the code sent to you. Use FORGOT PASSWORD? when signed out, or PASSWORD RECOVERY from ACCOUNT when signed in. Google sign-in uses your Google account; resetting a TankForge email password does not change your Google password. Confirmation and recovery emails come from support@daveonduty.co.uk. Never share passwords or codes.
Cloud progress and changing phones
Sign in with the same account on each device. Campaign progress, solo credits and XP, tanks, upgrades and solo records sync to your account. Return to the menu and wait for Cloud saved, or use SYNC NOW / RETRY, before switching phones. Remote progress is not applied in the middle of a battle.
- Internet is required for first login and cloud restoration. Once a career is cached, solo play works offline while you remain signed in; reconnect to sync changes.
- If both devices change a career before syncing, compare the two saves and explicitly choose which to keep. Credits are not automatically merged; both versions are backed up locally before replacement.
- Settings, custom maps and local multiplayer progression remain device-local. They do not move with your solo cloud career.
- Signing out affects this device, not the other phone. Sync first; access to the cached career requires signing back into that account.
Updates, reinstalling and older saves
Updating the same installed app normally keeps its local data. Clearing storage or uninstalling deletes local copies, unsynced changes and conflict backups; it does not delete the cloud account. Sign in again to restore the last synced solo career. Android’s automatic app-data backup is disabled.
Older offline build 51 and account build 53 have device-local careers and do not automatically upload them. The development preview and Google Play app are separate installations. Do not uninstall an old installation to move an unsynced save; contact support first. See account and data deletion to delete the cloud account as well.
Controls and display
TankForge is designed for landscape play. Move with the left control, aim and fire on the right, and use the three numbered slots for collected supplies. If controls appear misplaced, close split-screen or floating-window mode, rotate back to landscape and reopen the game.
For performance or heat, open Settings and lower Graphics Quality. Reduced Motion also stops non-essential continuous menu animation.
Local Wi-Fi and direct-IP multiplayer
Matches are hosted on a player’s phone, with no preset public rooms or random matchmaking. A room code is a shortcut to the host’s local address. Connect both phones to the same Wi-Fi and use compatible builds. One player hosts a match from MULTIPLAYER; the other opens a multiplayer mode and looks under Nearby Wi-Fi Games. Keep the host lobby open while joining, then start the battle.
- If discovery fails, check that a VPN or guest-network isolation is not blocking local access. Use the host’s room code or local address as a fallback.
- Match traffic uses UDP port 28777; nearby discovery uses UDP port 28778. A host firewall must allow the game.
- Google login and cloud careers do not create an internet multiplayer connection. Public matchmaking, relays and dedicated public servers are not enabled.
Adverts and purchases
No advertising provider, analytics SDK or in-app purchase system is enabled in this build. Login and solo cloud saves do not require a purchase.
